Q. Do I need special training to be a Water Quality
Monitoring Volunteer?
A. No. If you want to come out and help the Wildcat stream team,
then the training is the actual experience under our guidance. If
you want to know more or want to have your own stream team, then you
need to take the Introductory Level Workshop taught by the Missouri
Stream Team Program. It is given at no cost at many locations
throughout the state, generally in the spring. Go to:

Q. Do I have to be an Audubon member or volunteer at the
Center?
A. No. Membership to our team is open to all and certainly all Missouri
residents can participate in the Missouri Stream Team Program.
Q. How much time does it take to do water quality monitoring?
A. Some folks participate only in the sampling activities while other
participate in the event and educational opportunities. Macro
invertebrate sampling takes 3 hours, twice/year/site or about 6
hours/year for each site. Chemical sampling takes about 1 - 1.5
hours, four time/year/site or 6 hours/year for each site.
Q. What are other stream team activities besides water
quality monitoring?
A. The stream team sponsors Shoal Creek clean ups several times/year.
There is also opportunities to work with children such as school groups
and scouts.
